The boat ride across the bay takes less than twenty minutes, and docks at the forbidding entrance to Alcatraz Prison. Serving more than 1500 inmates over 50 years, this prison never experienced a successful escape despite securing famous occupants such as Al Capone and Machine Gun Kelly. The cells are certainly grim, and provide an insight into what must have been a very gruelling lifestyle.
