The list of inmates at Alcatraz contains some household names. Whilst many of them were 'officially' incarcerated for tax evasion, this was because the Federal Government used the 'Rico Law' provisions to prosecute when they couldn't get sufficient evidence on them for murder, kidnapping, armed robbery, and general mayhem.
